SON.hyx® and SPARKX. What is the difference between these two?

Both of these ranges are produced using Luigi Bormioli’s patented glass composition.

Glassware made with SPARKX® blown ultra-clear and durable glass ensures sparkle maintained for over 2000 industrial washing cycles.

SON.hyx® is Luigi Bormioli’s latest high-tech lead-free crystal glass providing ultra-clear, totally transparent and sparkling glass. It is possible to truly appreciate the whole chromatic range of wine as in pure quartz. No alteration in transparency and brilliance over 4000 industrial washing cycles.

Both ranges are manufactured with patented TITANIUM Reinforced®, permanent anti-abrasion treatment on the stems which increases their resistance to breakages resulting in a longer service life.

Each range uses pulled stem technique for their stemware which means the whole glass and stem is made from the one piece of glass with no joints or seams. They also have laser-cut fine and reinforced rims. Both ranges are produced lead and other heavy metal free.

What are your corporate social responsibility credentials?

We consider it a privilege to have been given the opportunity to enhance the intrinsic sustainability of glass; a hygienic, safe, versatile, entirely, and infinitely recyclable material.

Our responsible outlook is evidenced by our corporation adopting since 1996 a Quality Management System ISO 9001 certified by our participation in other initiatives focused on regulating and constantly improving our business.

Our corporation is certified ISO50001 Energy Management System, ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, ECOVADIS business Sustainability Ratings, ISO14064 Carbon Footprint Quantification of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, ISO14001 Environmental Management System, AEO Authorized Economic Operator, FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System Certified by DNV GL (for packaging), CDP Carbon Disclosure Project, HIGG Index Measurement of Environmental and Social Impacts, UN Global Compact Commitment in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and the fight against corruption, SEDEX Assessment and improvement of working conditions.

Our focus on the environmental impact of our activities develops in three different directions: choice of machinery, increasing use of PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) material and the development of environmentally friendly processes and products. Glass is infinitely recyclable and reduces environmental pollution by 14-20%. Its production generates very low CO2 emission levels thanks to use of electric furnaces.
